Development Game
Electric
Funstuff, interactive production company for Children's Television's Workshop
produced this educational game that helps kids improve their English and
science skills. They needed someone who could illustrate in CTWs distinctive
style.

Choose
a Science Topic
With
an audience of small children, I kept it simple, used bright colors, and
made large buttons with shapes that describe their function. With the
teacher's help, kids select English or Spanish, a science topic and create
a user name.

Game
Show Theme
Choosing a game show theme, I designed a stage for the simple
text, picture questions and clues that teach children to use association
to learn new words.
I animated CTW style characters that popped in and out to interact with
the player.

Multiple
Choice
Multiple choice uses text for the questions and pictures for the
answers to associate imagery with text in a fun way. I used Illustrator
to draw and color the line art then imported the screens into Photoshop
to cut out the elements for programming.

Picture
Question
Animated characters help kids through the various games and challenges
and appear to offer clues if the child is playing poorly. Questions in
the form of pictures help children increase their visual awareness and
reasoning skills.
